Turn to teaching to inspire our tech stars of tomorrow
EDUCATION franchises can be especially rewarding as you watch your students progress — as Andrew Green has found.
He invested in a ComputerXplorers franchise providing technology teaching to children.
Andrew, 47, says: ‘I remember my fascination with home computing and the sense of achievement when learning to code. Now we teach children in the Cambridge and Chelmsford area coding, programming, digital animation and robotics.’
Andrew, from Great Canfield, Essex, used to run a company with his father, but wanted to set up on his own. ‘My wife Stephanie enjoyed her school job so I was inspired to get into education,’ he says.
‘After 18 months in business, we deliver classes to more than 300 children weekly. It is hugely rewarding and the support from ComputerXplorers is exemplary.’
ComputerXplorers franchisees market the service to head teachers, nursery owners, and holiday programme leaders, and manage a team delivering the classes.
Nigel Toplis, managing director of ComputerXplorers, says: ‘Franchisees need a passion for education and the ability to com- municate with school heads, parents and children.’ A ComputerXplorers franchise costs £29,000.
When Beverley Beaumont, 57, and husband Steve decided to leave their corporate jobs to start a business, they chose the Tutor Doctor franchise, which involves matching tutors to families.
‘It appealed to our sense of community’, says Beverley, from Bury.
‘ The most rewarding thing is when families say how proud they are that their children have done well, and how good their tutor is.’ Beverley advises others considering an education franchise: ‘You do not need an education background; the Tutor Doctor train- ing will give you the confidence you need.’
Tim Morris, UK Tutor Doctor country manager, says: ‘We look for motivated, people- oriented individuals who want to make a difference.’ The Tutor Doctor franchise costs £29,700.
