Thug who has to tell the police every time he gets new girlfriend

- By Rebecca Camber Crime Correspondent

A FATHER of seven who attacked a series of girlfriends has been banned from having a relationship without telling police.

Kylle Godfrey, 30, is thought to be the first man in the country to be ordered to tell police if he has a relationship lasting more than a fortnight.

Godfrey, who has had seven children with five partners – one of whom is pregnant with his eighth – has been handed a land- mark criminal behaviour order to prevent him attacking women.

In May last year the former travel agent, who lived with his disabled mother in Neasden, north-west London, was jailed for nine months for assaulting one of his girlfriends with whom he has a son. But following his early release, he assaulted Pinky Shairra – leaving her with serious head injuries – last October.

Yesterday Miss Shairra told of her six-year ordeal at the hands of the jealous and controlling boyfriend who battered her on a daily basis.

The 33-year-old wept as she told how Godfrey had throttled her until her eyes were bloodshot then hit her head on the floor.

The maternity nurse, from South East Asia, said: ‘I closed my eyes and I thought, “This is it, I’m going to die.” I was lying on the floor and he was hitting me.

‘For days he had been bullying me, throwing water on me at night or trying to set me on fire by spraying an aerosol can on a lighter. I was given some clothes from a woman I work for and he said I smelt funny and I must be sleeping with someone. He went crazy.

‘He smashed my head on the ground and he was beating my head on the floor I thought this is not worth it, losing your life for someone like him.

‘When he saw all the blood he started crying and saying how could I do this to him and that he didn’t want to go to prison. He ran off and I decided to go the police.’

After his arrest Godfrey intimidated Miss Shairra and, while on bail, went back to another partner and assaulted her.

In February he was jailed for three years at Wood Green Crown Court for the attack on Miss Shairra after admitting two counts of actual bodily harm, perverting the course of justice and witness intimidation.

Miss Shairra said: ‘When we first met in London in 2011, I thought he was handsome and he seemed really nice.

‘We started to see each other and we were happy at first.

‘But then he started checking up on me all the time at work and being really controlling.

‘He was always questioning where I was and who I was with.

‘I was a bubbly and friendly person and then I became afraid to go out or see anyone because he was so jealous. When I started a new job delivering leaflets he came home screaming and shouting. He came through the door and put the keys in my eyes, he punched me in the chest and smashed every single piece of furniture I had.

‘I had never seen violence in my life, I was terrified. It became normal to go to work with a black eye or cover up the bruises all over my body or the burns from the lighter.’

She added: ‘I knew he was seeing other women whom he has had children with and he used to attack them too, but I was too frightened to leave him.’

A judge passed the unprecedented seven-year order requiring Godfrey to inform police if he is in a relationship for more than 14 days.

It also allows police to inform these partners of his previous violent behaviour to women.
