RYAN CAN GET ON A ROLL

GOOD FRIDAY lives up to its name at today’s three venues with the sport’s rulers delivering on their promise to stage quality racing and excellent prize money.

Victory for CONVEY (Lingfield, 4.40) could crown a red letter day for rider Ryan Moore, who looks to hold a number of excellent chances through a terrific card. Moore (right) has already shown his talents this season with a stunning hat-trick at Doncaster.

In Convey, his skills could well be tested as the horse has displayed quirks in a career which has not delivered as much as it promised.

However, the selection got his act together in the Winter Derby to score cosily and he is unbeaten in two starts on a synthetic surface which suggests connections could well have exploited that angle a little better in a 14-race career.

He is no good thing to land the finale, but he could be one of the best backed horses of the day, especially if the Moore bandwagon has gained momentum courtesy of COHESION (Lingfield, nb, 2.10). Trainer David Bridgewater was going to send his four-year- old over hurdles before he scored in style at Wolverhampton last time and the Midlands handler looks to have made a smart decision if his gelding’s Dunstall Park speed figure is taken on trust. ROYAL BIRTH (Lingfield, nap, 3.10), unbeaten in both starts at this track, could be a value punt to lift the All-Weather Sprint Final. The six-year-old is yet to win over six furlongs, but was never stronger than at the line when beating Lancelot Du Lac here last time. Indeed, his effort over today’s trip at Ascot last September suggests he could improve for it.
