De Boinville’s fit for Henderson title bid

- By SAM TURNER

NICO DE BOINVILLE escaped serious injury when falling in Saturday’s Scottish national and will bid to steer boss nicky henderson to a much-soughtafter trainer’s title this week.

the 2015 gold Cup-winning rider, who was lucky to avoid long-term damage when Sugar Baron took a nasty tumble at the first fence at ayr, plans to ride out at henderson’s Seven Barrows base this morning before heading to punchestown and then on to Sandown on Saturday for the season finale.

‘nico’s fine. he’s stiff, but no worse,’ said henderson. ‘he says he’s going to ride out today so he should be all right for punchestown.

‘We’ve got runners there and now we’re going to have to pull a few rabbits out of the hat for Sandown after paul nicholls won the Scottish national on vincente.’

GUY DISNEY, the first amputee jockey to win at a professional racecourse in Britain, failed in his bid to extend his recent run of success when forced to pull up his mount Bistouri d’honore in Wincanton’s inaugural military race yesterday.

ORDER OF ST GEORGE, winner of last year’s ascot gold Cup, could manage only a disappointing second place behind torcedor in the vintage Crop Stakes on his comeback at navan yesterday.
