Team Pawson have poor day

- GRAHAM POLL the official line

CRAIG PAWSON had a game to forget — with three glaring errors — and he was not helped by either of his assistants. 1 When Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tripped Sergio Aguero, Pawson had a clear, unobstructed view but he waved away City’s penalty appeals. Replays showed clear contact which, although minimal, made Aguero stumble and lose balance. It was a definite penalty. 2 Leroy Sane crossed the ball from the left and Aguero put the ball in the net but assistant Steve Child raised his flag to indicate the ball had gone out of play from thehe cross (see image below). Wrong again! 3 Arsenal were denied a penalty, too. Alexis Sanchez was pulled back by Jesus Navas, in front of assistant Simon Bennett, who did not indicate a foul and so Pawson ended the first half as he started it — turning down a clear penalty appeal.
