ONE-DAY CRICKET Essex v Sussex, 1.55pm, Sky Sports 2

CAPTAIN Luke Wright didn’t have the best of starts to this season’s 50-over campaign for Sussex with a golden duck at Lord’s. He’ll hope for better things today against former England teammate Ravi Bopara.

CHILDREN’S TALE CBeebies Bedtime Stories, 6.50pm, CBeebies

IN A remarkable turn of events, Chris Evans (pictured) — Captain America in the Marvel movies — reads Even Superheroes Have Bad Days to the nation. The story is all about helping children to cope with overwhelming emotions, so perhaps Chris can pass a copy to the Hulk.

FOOTBALL Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid, 7pm, BT Sport 2

THE Madrid rivalry continues in the Champions League, but it’s Real who have the upper hand once again, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-leg hat-trick.

PAY-PER-VIEW MOVIE Passengers, BT TV/ Sky Store/Virgin Movies

VERY, very good-looking sci-fi, with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt on a space cruise that goes very, very wrong. The story takes some uncomfortable turns but there is a lot to like here, especially the android barman played by Michael Sheen.

METAL CLASH BattleBots, 8pm, Spike

THERE are now only eight machines still standing in this enjoyably OTT robot-fighting contest. The judges are joined by ex-Nasa astronaut Leland Melvin as those eight are whittled down to the four that will be going all out to secure the coveted Giant Nut in next week’s grand finale. (Freeview 31, Freesat 141, Sky 160, Virgin 154)

CAT CAPER Keanu, 8pm, Sky Premiere

CATS have conquered the internet, now they’re doing the same at the movies. This enjoyably over-the-top action film spoof features a blistering mass shootout in which cute little kitten Keanu dodges bullets before having to be rescued from gangsters.

SCI-FI SERIES Person Of Interest, 9pm, 5 USA

WHAT would the world have looked like had Finch never built his crimepredicting computer? The machine shows him in the penultimate episode of a show that pulls sizeable audiences to 5 USA and, next week, delivers a strong series finale that should leave fans satisfied.

BRIC-A-BRAC Salvage Hunters, 9pm, Quest

YOU see inside some fascinating places in Drew Pritchard’s antique hunting series. As a new run begins, Drew visits Gainsborough Silks — silk-makers by royal appointment — and pokes around Cluny Castle in Aberdeenshire, whose owners are having a bit of a clear-out.

EURO THRILLER Public Enemy, 10pm, Sky Atlantic

WHEN a child killer is paroled after 20 years in prison, he is kept in a monastery to protect him from the public — then, a local child disappears. Angelo Bison plays the killer like Hannibal Lecter, but on a lower volume, in an icy new Belgian drama.

VAMPIRE FLICK Bram Stoker’s Dracula, 10.45pm, Film4

FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA’S lavish take on Bram Stoker’s Gothic classic looks spectacular, even if some of the acting is a bit creaky. Gary Oldman makes a fabulous Count, lusting after his lost love in England, with Sadie Frost breathless as one of his victims.
