Tractor crushes woman to death at luxury resort

- By Liz Hull

A FORMER public schoolgirl was crushed to death by a tractor at a luxury holiday resort.

Chloe Farrell, 22, died when the tractor overturned and rolled on top of her as it was towing a boat to sea.

Miss Farrell was staying with friends at The Warren, a holiday park in north Wales where seafront homes cost up to £600,000.

Police and paramedics were called to the resort in Abersoch, on the Llyn Peninsula, at around 7.20pm on Friday. Miss Farrell was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday her mother, Karen, 51, stepfather, David, and three siblings, Brad, Laura and Dan, paid tribute to her.

Their statement said: ‘She was fun, outgoing and had a great sense of humour. She lived life to the full and loved spending time with her many friends.

‘She was passionate about Abersoch, having holidayed at Tal y Fan and later The Warren since she was two years old. Chloe loved being out on the boat and jet-ski in all weathers and had spent long summers working in the village.

‘She loved to travel and ski, having recently holidayed in Austria and Banff.

‘Everyone is absolutely devastated by this tragic accident. Chloe will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to meet her and who held her in great affection. She was a bright, funny, caring and driven young woman.’

Miss Farrell attended the £15,000a-year Rydal Penrhos school, in Colwyn Bay, where she lived.

She worked in the security and alarm firm Crime Prevention Services, which was set up by her father and counts Premier League footballers among its clients.

It is the second tragedy in her family – her father Geoff died suddenly in 2006 at the age of 51.

North Wales Police and Gwynedd Council have begun an investigation into the accident.
