Was Pippa Middleton’s wedding excessive?

-

I DISAGREE with Stephen Glover’s article on Pippa’s lavish wedding. The Middletons are in a rather unique position, after all. Not everyone has an elder daughter who falls in love with a future King. They are doing what any loving parents would do for their daughter — giving her the very best wedding they can afford, to make it the memorable occasion her family and friends would wish for. ROS ROBINSON, lydeard St lawrence, Somerset. I am sick of the adverse comments about the cost of Pippa middleton’s wedding. It is their affair how they spend money which they earned by hard graft. Good luck to the new mr and mrs matthews.

TONY WATTS, Braintree, essex. ONE expects the public purse to pay for protection officers to accompany the Royal Family, but not for it to be used to police Pippa’s wedding, which was, after all, meant to be a private family affair. How disgraceful that in these times of cutbacks, public money was used to supervise this obscene extravagance. SUSAN RICHARDSON, Sheffield. PIPPA merely comes from a privileged background and her sister is married to a Windsor. I realise people can do what they wish with their money, but I found the whole thing full of greed and self-adoration. WENDY LEY, little Billing, northants. I JUST love the way little Princess Charlotte is holding Prince George’s arm as well as her mother’s in the photo on the front of your delightful 12-page pullout on Pippa’s wedding (Mail). Good show! As usual your paper has the very best write-up and photographs. SYLVIA HARVEY, S. molton, devon.
