My dog ate my passport!

WE’VE all heard the excuse ‘the dog ate my homework’. Well, rugby player Matt Shepherd almost couldn’t represent his country abroad — because his dog chewed his passport. Mr Shepherd, 27, noticed the damage caused by cocker spaniel Mr Boots when he was preparing for the tour to Spain with the English Counties team. The Plymouth Albion back rushed to Newport Passport Office for a new one — in time for the tour at the end of May.
