Navas exits in Pep’s big clear-out

- By CHRIS WHEELER

MANCHESTER CITY launched their summer clear-out yesterday as four players headed for the Etihad exit. Willy Caballero, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna are all going after coming to the end of their contracts. However, Yaya Toure remains in talks over a new contract. Manager Pep Guardiola has told Toure that he wants him to stay, and the Ivorian midfielder is keen to extend his seven-year stay at City. But he would have to accept a substantial cut to his £220,000-a-week salary. Caballero and Navas also discussed new contracts but were unable to agree terms. Navas has been offered a three-year deal to return to Sevilla, who sold the Spain winger to City four years ago for £14.9million. Caballero, meanwhile, has been sharing goalkeeping duties with Claudio Bravo in the second half of the season but wanted assurances that he would be No 1. The Argentinian joined City in 2014 from Malaga for £6m. Clichy has been at City since 2011 when he was signed from Arsenal for £7m. Sagna followed him from the Emirates three years later on a free transfer. Three City players who have been out on loan this season — Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri — are all expected to be sold. There has also been a question mark over the futures of Sergio Aguero, Nolito, Fabian Delph and Fernando. After finishing a season empty-handed for the first time in his coaching career, Guardiola is expected to sign up to six players this summer, including a new goalkeeper and three defenders. City have also expressed an interest in Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez. Highly rated centre back Tosin Adarabioyo is expected to sign a new four-year deal in the next few days. City turned down an offer from Everton for the 19-year-old earlier this year, with Guardiola expecting big things from the 6ft 5in England Under 21 defender.
