Mother was told only one triplet could live ... look at them now!

AFTER ten years of trying to have a baby, Kate Burgess was thrilled to discover she was pregnant.

and she was shocked when a scan showed she was having triplets – but the news came with a warning.

Because the pregnancy was so risky, doctors said she should abort two of the babies, but mrs Burgess, 35, and husband David, 32, refused.

‘there was no way we could have chosen one of our babies’ lives over the other two,’ said mrs Burgess. ‘We just told each other that what will be will be, and we had to take that risk.’ She eventually gave birth to triplets myla, Jade and Leah, now 17 months old and happier than ever.

‘We just look at them and marvel that they are all here, safe and well,’ she said. the couple, from Stafford, had a decade of disappoint­ment before they became parents, eventually resorting to iVF. after two attempts that ended with miscarriag­es mrs Burgess became pregnant a third time, giving birth to the shock triplets at 34 weeks.

‘We couldn’t believe it,’ she said. ‘to have three miracle babies after ten years of trying to be a mum was the most wonderful feeling in the world.’
