KUMAR SANGAKKARA struck a Surrey record fifth consecutiv­e County Championsh­ip century in the top-of-the-table match against Essex at Chelmsford. His 177 not out — following his recent sequence of 136, 105, 114 and 120 — took the Sri Lankan past 1,000 runs in English cricket before the end of May. He helped Surrey finish the day on 334 for seven. IN the second division, Paul Collingwoo­d hit 127 off 174 balls on his 41st birthday in Durham’s 342 against Glamorgan in Swansea. And Joe Denly’s 119 helped Kent reach 316 for eight against Sussex at Tunbridge Wells.
