Dave ‘jumps queue’ to buy socks in JD Sports ...then meets Obama

-

OF ALL the excuses for jumping a queue, ‘I’m late for a meeting with Barack Obama’ has to be right up there.

Former Prime Minister David Cameron – with two bodyguards in tow – spurned the posh shops in London’s Oxford Street and popped into cut-price J D Sports to buy a pair of socks on Saturday.

Hours later, he tweeted a photo of himself with the ex-US President as the two former world leaders caught up. In footage taken by a surprised shopper, a smartly dressed Mr Cameron is seen taking the white socks to the tills and appears to skip a large queue.

But he realises he has picked up the wrong size, and makes a quick dash back to swap them before heading back to the cashier.

Mr Cameron, 50, then slips the socks into his briefcase-style bag and scurries out of the store. The shopper, who asked not to be named, said: ‘You might expect to see David Cameron in Selfridges, but not JD Sports.

‘He looked completely out of place in his suit with two security men. And I don’t know why he deserves such special treatment now he’s no longer Prime Minister – he just jumps to the front of the queue.’
