I’ve lost weight on my face - should I have fillers?

- Dr Tracy Mountford

QLAST year I turned my life around by changing my diet and losing 2st. I still have more weight to lose but I’m already noticing the volume loss in my face, which is making me look older. What can I do?

Am I better to wait until I reach my target weight, or can I have work done now?

AThis is a very good question and one i’m asked frequently. it’s a harsh fact that when we diet, we can’t control which parts of the body the fat will disappear from.

it’s common for weight loss to show in the face — which can make us appear tired and aged.

it is absolutely fine to have facial rejuvenation with fillers at this point if you’re already seeing changes which you don’t like. This filler treatment will restore lost volume and refresh the face.

When you reach your target weight, it’s possible (depending on how much weight you still have to lose) that you will need some more treatment. ideally gradual, sustainable weight loss is better — not only for your health, but for the longterm impact it will have on your face, too.

Fillers require very little downtime (if any) and fees start from £ 550. For significant volume replacement, a full assessment will be needed.
