In the rough, Tiger? Woods is held for drink-driving at 3am

- By Arthur Martin

TIGER Woods was arrested in Florida yesterday on suspicion of drink-driving.

Officers released a mugshot of the former top golfer, 41, looking tired and unshaven.

The 14-time major champion was pulled over at 3am on Monday in the town of Jupiter, near his mansion on Jupiter Island.

He was held in a cell from 7.18am until his release at 10.30am. He faces a charge of driving with a blood alcohol level above Florida’s legal limit of 0.8.

It comes days after he said he had not felt ‘this good in years’ as he recovered from his fourth back operation. He said on Thursday: ‘It is hard to express how much better I feel. It was instant nerve relief.’ Woods added that his return to top flight golf was ‘just a matter of not screwing it up’.

It is the second time the golfer has been involved in a driving incident.

In 2009 Woods crashed his car into a fire hydrant, a tree and several hedges two days after a US magazine revealed he had been cheating on his then-wife Elin Nordegren with nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel.
