Time for leadership

-

IN THE aftermath of the Manchester terrorist attack, as with every other atrocity, we have seen the useless hand-wringing political and social elite uttering the same old empty platitudes about standing together and not being beaten.

This terrorist cancer has been allowed to grow and spread by self-serving politicians. They have no answer to the problem that they have helped to create other than empty words and gestures.

They have allowed parallel communities with their own laws to be set up within our society, like a Trojan Horse, with little or no allegiance to this country.

For far too long politicians have turned a blind eye to this issue, either pretending it didn’t exist or its existence did not pose a problem. The time has come for action. Words, gestures, vigils, candles and poems are simply not enough any more.

The decent, honest people of this country deserve better than to see their fellow citizens slaughtered.

Now is the time to put the human rights of the law-abiding above those of the terrorist, and to deal with these murderers in our midst. Mrs May, if there was ever a time to be firm and ‘bloody difficult’, it is now.

Get on with it, show some true leadership and do whatever it takes to root out this evil once and for all.
