DON’T bemoan footballer Wayne Rooney wasting £500,000 gambling in a casino.
This is only profligate from Rooney’s viewpoint: he was set back, but the money was released into the economy to circulate among others. This may be preferable to the cash staying in a bank account.
In fact, Rooney’s gambling losses could lead indirectly to financing the £50,000 stem cell treatment for Ms Tye’s daughter (Letters), as casino income is taxed.
