CUT PRICE MINI JET FOR FAT CATS ON A BUDGET

-

A SMALL cut-price private jet is causing a stir among the globe’s fat cats who have flooded the manufacturer with orders.

The £1.5m Cirrus Vision Jet can carry five adults and two children as passengers – and the plane even has a parachute should disaster strike.

At a time when global orders for private jets are sinking because of concerns over costs, the Cirrus sales have soared.

It flies at 345mph and can reach 28,000 ft, but while a range of 1,380 miles means it can’t do transatlantic jaunts, it could fly from London to southern Europe.

The plane has the engine mounted on the roof, and has a distinctive V-shaped tail fin.

The jet has been a hit in the US since it was trialled last May, as it has wider windows that give passengers a panoramic view.

However, there is no room for walking about as the cabin is just 4.1 ft tall and 5.1 ft wide.

There is, though, in-flight entertainment and USB charging ports.

In recent years, tumbling oil wealth and tighter purse strings have driven chief executives to rein in their spending on jets.

At one point annual deliveries had reached more than 1,200, but last year just 661 planes were delivered – a 7.9pc year-on-year decline and the lowest level in 12 years, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

The Cirrus, meanwhile, is already reported to have had 600 orders.
