PM shares her star billing
SHE has been accused of running a ‘presidential-style’ campaign but now Theresa May is finally sharing top billing with her party.
The Prime Minister’s ‘strong and stable’ leadership has been hammered home during speeches and visits over the past few weeks, with voters urged to vote for ‘Theresa May’s team’.
But one week after critics claimed her campaign had suffered a wobble, this has been replaced with ‘Theresa May and the Conservatives: Strong, Stable Leadership’.
During a visit to Wolverhampton, where Mrs May made a speech, the backdrop and lectern also featured the phrase ‘For the Best Brexit Deal, Conservatives’. It comes as the party tries to switch the focus of the campaign back to negotiations with the EU following polls showing Labour narrowing the gap.
Mrs May resumed campaigning on this week in London after calling a halt following the Manchester bombing and then heading to Nato and G7 summits in Europe. She is widely considered to have put in a decent performance during a TV interview with Jeremy Paxman on Monday.
