Worthless words

-

TWO of the most worthless statements put out by the Government and public authorities in relation to the Manchester outrage are ‘lessons will be learned’ and ‘he was on our radar’.

Our leaders should be totally honest and say: ‘We just don’t have the money, staff, resources or the political will to really do anything tough. You’re on your own, mate. We will only be able to offer lip service.’

We suffer from ‘liberal weakness’ and malaise (Mail) which, regardless of who is in power, will never stop atrocities such as Manchester, child abuse or hospital failures. PHILIP C. SLATER,

Redditch, Worcs. IF ISLAMIC State thinks it can scare the people of Manchester, it’s in for a shock. Like the way it dealt with the Nazis and IRA, Manchester is standing together, defiant and giving them a huge V-sign.

Mancunians are a tough bunch who always look after each other, and we will never give in to cowards. STEVE MILLWARD, Denton, Manchester.
