Boardroom bigwig quits job at Celtic
LIFELONG Celtic fan Lord Ian Livingston is resigning from the board of the Glaswegian football club.
The Tory peer and former trade minister plans to focus on other commitments, having recently taken over as chairman of phone company Dixons Carphone.
The former BT chief executive has been a director of the listed club since October 2007. Celtic won the Scottish Cup on Saturday, capping a season in which they took all three domestic trophies.
Yesterday Livingston, 52, said: ‘It was a great honour to be a director of Celtic. With the club in a strong position, I look forward to Celtic’s continued success in the future.’
His resignation from Celtic, where he chairs the audit committee, comes less than two years after fans called for him to be booted off the board for backing Conservative Party cuts to tax credits.
