THE DRUGS HE NAMED

- MIA DE GRAAF

VICODIN

A powerful painkiller prescribed for moderate to severe pain. Comes with a warning that it may impair the mental and/or physical abilities required for the performance of potentially hazardous tasks such as driving a car or operating machinery.

VIOXX

A non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug (known medically as rofecoxib) prescribed to treat osteoarthritis and acute pain. Withdrawn from the US market in 2004 over concerns that it increases the risk of heart attack and stroke. Woods said he has not taken it this year.

SOLAREX

Affidavit misspells the drug as Solarex, which is a sun screen product. More likely it would have been Solurex, which is prescribed for back pain and is a steroid injection to prevent inflammation. Solurex (medically known as dexamethasone) is a treatment for arthritis. It is often injected into a muscle or vein through an intravenous drip over the course of a few days.

TORIX

Another misspelling on the affidavit and more likely refers to Turox. That is a drug prescribed for osteoarthritis, chronic low back pain and gout. Side effects include dizziness, high blood pressure, nausea, headaches and shortness of breath.
