How tacky!

Toe-curling anniversary selfie Dave and Sam posted on web

- By David Wilkes

THEY are the feet that less than a year ago were gracing the hallowed rooms of 10 Downing Street.

But yesterday there was nothing statesmanlike about the toes of David and Samantha Cameron as they were plastered across social media.

The former prime minister and his wife posted the pose – the sort beloved of teenage backpackers and publicity-hungry celebrities – as they chillaxed on a bed while celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary at a holiday retreat in southern Spain.

Since quitting – first as prime minister and then as a Tory MP – after losing the EU referendum last June, Mr Cameron has signed a deal for up to £800,000 to write his memoirs, pledging to give a ‘frank’ account of his successes and failures at No 10. The 50-year-old is also said to be charging up to £120,000 an hour as a public speaker.

Mrs Cameron, 46, posted the picture of their feet, taken on her mobile phone, on her page on the photo- sharing social media site Instagram. With her toenails painted red and a deep tan, Mrs Cameron’s pins left her Old Etonian husband’s pasty and blotchy limbs in the shade – although the dolphin tattoo on her right ankle was not visible.

The reason for sharing the bizarre intimate image with the world was explained in a brief accompanying post. She wrote: ‘Married for 21 years today!’ Later she posted another photograph, showing the outside of the Andalusian property where they are staying.

Friends and well-wishers responded with messages of congratulation – plus one asking, ‘Why does Davey C have no leg hair?’.

‘Why does Davey C have no leg hair?’
