England win but it’s agony for Woakes

Joe Root’s superb unbeaten 133 eased england to an eight-wicket win in their Champions trophy opener against Bangladesh — but their delight was tempered by an injury to Chris Woakes.

Root himself hobbled through much of his career-best innings after a bout of cramp. But while he expects to face New Zealand on tuesday, Woakes could be out of the tournament with a side strain after bowling just two overs.
