Burnley to fight off Palace for Dyche

BURNLEY are ready to offer Sean Dyche a new deal to prevent him from joining Crystal Palace this summer. Palace expect to start interviewi­ng prospectiv­e candidates for their vacant manager’s job next week — with Dyche emerging as a candidate. But Burnley want to head off the Eagles’ interest in their highly rated manager by offering Dyche a new deal. Marco Silva was Palace’s preferred candidate, but the Portuguese has joined Watford. That has left Palace surveying their options ahead of next season, with Dyche a prime contender for the job.

Sportsmail understand­s discussion­s over an extension for the 45-year-old are now under way. There are growing fears at Turf Moor that Dyche, who is rated as one of the best English managers, could be tempted away from the club. Indeed, Palace’s interest in the former Watford manager which has deepened concerns that Dyche could leave this summer. But Burnley hope a new contract will be enough to keep Dyche at the club for another season. The Clarets manager signed a contract extension in February 2016, but Burnley are prepared to reward Dyche for keeping the club in the Premier League.
