TEDDY TO SWINDON

- By SAM MORSHEAD

SWINDON TOWN have offered their vacant manager’s job to former England striker Teddy Sheringham.

The League Two club have been looking for a replacement for Luke Williams, who lost his job at the county Ground following the Robins’ relegation at the end of last season, and Sheringham, 51, seems set to be that man.

The ex-Stevenage boss has been out of work since leaving Broadhall Way 16 months ago.

however, talks are under way and Sheringham’s exile from the game could soon be over. Swindon have already seen a number of targets fall by the wayside in their pursuit of a new manager.

chairman Lee Power had targeted Mansfield’s Steve Evans, with whom he worked at Boston United, but the Stags would not give Swindon permission to speak to the Scot.

Jimmy Floyd hasselbaink is believed to have turned down the role while Paul Tisdale of Exeter city was not interested.
