Enjoy a refreshing sleep
THE average Brit is getting just six hours and 14 minutes of sleep a night — almost two hours less than is recommended, a study by Travelodge has just revealed. As well as falling short on sleep, the average adult will also wake up twice a night and spend two nights of the week tossing and turning due to factors such as stress or being too hot. An adjustable bed can be a helpful option for people who are kept awake by discomfort linked with a range of health conditions. For those with swollen legs or poor circulation, for example, being able to raise their feet in bed can help to ease symptoms so that they have more function the next morning. Breathlessness and backache are often eased by being able to raise the upper body at a slight angle, encouraging a better night’s sleep. And being able to raise the top half of the body makes it possible to read in bed comfortably without having to prop yourself up on an arrangement of pillows, while helping you to get out of bed in the morning, too. Having a refreshing night’s sleep can help you to make more of life, look and feel better — and even live a longer life. It reduces inflammation and makes you feel stronger. So it is worth considering anything that might help.
