Chef vanished amid carnage
A CHEF who had paid tribute to the victims of the 2015 French terror attacks was still missing last night.
Sebastien Belanger, 3 , was drinking with friends in a French bistro when the terrorists crashed their van outside.
In the ensuing melee the chef from Angers in western France disappeared from Boro Bistro.
One of Mr Belanger’s friends, a waiter at the bistro, was killed, French officials said yesterday. The 27-year-old, named only as Alexandre, from Saint-Malo in Brittany, was stabbed in the neck.
Robin, 24, a friend who was with both men, saw Alexandre lying on the ground but could not help him. ‘We had to run,’ he said. ‘I had to force another friend to leave a girl who was dying.’ It was at this point that Mr Belanger disappeared. ‘We started shouting “Seb, Seb”, but there was no trace of him,’ Robin said.
Mr Belanger, a chef at the Coq d’Argent restaurant in the City, came to London seven years ago. He had posted tributes on Facebook to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo and the Bataclan attacks in Paris in 2015. His girlfriend Gerda Bennet, 22, has appealed for information about his whereabouts on Facebook.
Alexandre had been living in London for two and a half-years.
