City worker fended off killer with his skateboard
THE family of a City worker who tried to save a woman fear the worst for him and have launched a social media appeal for information. Ignacio Echeverria, 39, went to help the woman near Borough Market, using his skateboard to try to fend off a knifeman.
The financial crime analyst from Madrid, who moved to London 15 months ago to work for HSBC and whose sister Isabel also lives in the city, was on his way home from a skate park. Friends said they saw him fall to the pavement after confronting the attacker. Ignacio’s brother Joaquin said the family was praying he would be found alive but added: ‘We’ve been asked for his fingerprints. Not a good sign.’
