What are the risks?
AS WITH any surgery, there is a risk of infection.
THE staples used in this surgery are made from nickel, which some patients are allergic to, so need them removed.
THERE is a small risk the staple could break. ‘THE amount of bone that needs to be removed to get the implant to sit properly is much less,’ says Jeremy Read, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Spire Harpenden Hospital. ‘I have had generally good success with them.’
