And the gold for synchronised swimming goes to... Whales!
IF there was an Olympics for marine animals, these humpback whales would take first prize for synchronised swimming. The pair, each weighing up to 40 tons, performed their beautiful side-by-side ballet near the entrance to Sydney Harbour in Australia, dazzling boatloads of tourists and delighting photographer Jonas Liebschner, who took this picture. He said the double breaching was extremely rare, adding: ‘Don’t ask me how they got their timing so right. It’s a sign, though, that their communication systems are working in perfect unison.’
