Four candles and a wave from his brave widow at Ronnie’s memorial
LEANING on a crutch for support, Ronnie Corbett’s widow, West End star, Anne Hart, wore her late husband’s CBE and waved to fans at the comedian’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey yesterday.
Vergers carried in four candles in a nod to the famous ‘fork handles’ skit by the Two Ronnies, and the chair from which Corbett delivered his comic monologues was placed in front of the altar.
Restaurateur Simon Parker Bowles, former brother-in-law of the Duchess of Cornwall, remembered the things that ‘ thrilled’ Corbett most: ‘ Oysters and champagne, aspiring comedians, golf, dogs and slow horses; and especially his love of Anne, his family and close friends, to whom he gave of himself so generously.’
