Roy’s in danger of axe for Aussie clash

- By PAUL NEWMAN Cricket Correspondent

JASON ROY faces an agonising wait to see if he will get one final chance against Australia to keep his Champions Trophy dream alive. England are torn over whether to axe Roy for Saturday’s final group match at Edgbaston and instead turn to Jonny Bairstow. Surrey opener Roy has made just 47 runs in seven one-day internationals and was out to another poor shot for 13 in the win over New Zealand that put England in the semi-finals. Captain Eoin Morgan has previously said Roy’s spot is safe, but the worry is that another flop would see Bairstow thrown straight into the semi-final.
