Kellogg’s battle with tennis star
A TENNIS player is embroiled in a court battle with Kellogg’s over the right to use the nickname Special K.
The cereal firm wants to stop Thanasi Kokkinakis, 21 – the doubles partner of foul-mouthed Australian player Nick Kyrgios – from using its trademarked product name in advertisements for tennis clothing.
The first hearing took place in Adelaide yesterday. Kellogg’s said: ‘Special K is one of our most iconic global brands and we’re seeking to defend our rights to the 50-year-old trademark.’
