FEMALE DIRECTOR HITS JACKPOT
GAL GADOT is far from the only gutsy female involved in the film. It’s directed by Patty Jenkins (pictured), who was behind the 2003 Oscarwinning film Monster and the Emmy-nominated remake of Scandi noir TV series The Killing. American Patty, 45, a mum-of-one, also has an unorthodox background. Her father was a fighter pilot and her mother a scientist, and Patty had lived in 15 different countries before she was six years old. So far, Wonder Woman has set two records: Patty is the first woman ever to direct a bigbudget superhero film, and it’s recorded the biggest opening weekend box office takings for a female director, raking in £185 million so far. She’s a tough taskmaster, demanding 14-hour days, and is renowned for shooting scenes over and over — up to 50 times — to get them right.
