COSTUMES THAT THATMADE MADE IT HARD TO BREATHE

THOUGH the women in the film are more covered-up than in the comic strip (Wonder Woman is wearing more than a bra, for one), their outfits have still sparked outrage. When the first images emerged, online commentators pointed out the warriors’ tight, corsetlike costumes and queried how they could possibly run in towering heels. Even Gal Gadot (pictured above with co-star Connie Nielsen) admitted her outfit took her breath away when she saw it — and not for the right reasons. ‘They got me into the fitting room and tried on the costume,’ she said. ‘I was so happy and so grateful for being there and doing this role that I didn’t say anything about the fact it was so tight, I literally could not breathe.’ Director Jenkins says it was a deliberate choice to make the look ‘appealing to women . . . To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armour like men. It should be different. We want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass and look great at the same time.’
