But now the plot has thickened. For his co-star Eleanor Tomlinson, 25, has split from her long-term boyfriend Ben Atkinson and is thought to be single.
News that she is no longer with the professional horse trainer – who has been Turner’s stunt double – comes amid rumours that she and Turner, 33, are growing close and might even be dating. The pair have been spotted ‘cosying up’ to one another in a members’ club in London, while pictures showed them looking close as they walked together through the capital and visited a newsagents together.
The chemistry between the stars, who have shared several intimate scenes as husband and wife Ross and Demelza in BBC1’s Cornish drama, has helped make it a hit. The third series begins tomorrow at 9pm, with more steamy scenes expected.
Until now, it was thought that Miss Tomlinson was still seeing Mr Atkinson. However, his Instagram account shows he is now in a serious relationship with fellow stunt rider Katharine Pickering. Meanwhile, Irish star Turner and his artist girlfriend Nettie Wakefield, 29, have separated amicably after eight months together.
Representatives of Turner and Miss Tomlinson were unavailable for comment yesterday.
