Dr Raghuram Shetty, 74 Founder, NMC Health

THE billionaire boss of NMC Health has made £47.4m after selling more than 2m shares.

Dr Raghuram Shetty, 74, is joint non-executive chairman of the pharmaceutical giant, which he founded in 1975 in the United Arab Emirates.

The father of four emigrated from India to Abu Dhabi in 1972 with a mission to repay a bank loan that haunted his family. He built NMC into a giant with almost 40,000 staff, and still controls a £1.2bn stake in the group – or 24.3pc of its share capital.
