NOLITO

HARD to object to the Spaniard’s complaints about the Manchester weather given that the heating was on here during election night. But the fact that the Manchester City player admitted in an interview that he can barely speak any English was more damning. How can players expect to settle in a foreign town if they haven’t the confidence even to say good morning to the postman?

ANTONIO CONTE

IF THE Chelsea manager really did tell Diego Costa by text message that he was no longer wanted, it’s hard to believe the volatile Spaniard didn’t reply in kind. But perhaps the best comeback would simply have been: ‘Who is this? I don’t have this number in my phone . . .’

FAMILY TIME

SUPERB effort by Real Madrid to retain the Champions League and hard to begrudge the presence of their families on the big night. But making the defeated Juventus players wait for half an hour to collect their losers’ medals while they posed for pictures with wives and children was just wrong. I blame UEFA. I usually do.
