Next recalls sandals over choking fear
HIGH street chain Next has issued an urgent safety warning after discovering that studs on its children’s sandals are a choking hazard.
The shop recalled the £18 shoes after realising small star- shaped studs could come loose.
The sandals, pictured, are part of the stores younger girls’ range for children aged three months to six years.
The recall comes just a few weeks after Next recalled another pair of children’s sandals due to beads that ‘failed testing’.
A statement on the Next website about the latest recall said: ‘ Unfortunately, it’s come to light that there’s a potential problem with the star rivets, which could become detached, presenting a choking hazard to young children. As the sandals don’t meet our strict technical specifications, we’ve taken the decision of recalling them, and we’re requesting that you return them to us for a full refund.’
It advised calling the store to arrange a collection or returning them to a branch, adding: ‘We’re very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience this may cause, but we hope you’ll understand that customer safety is our highest priority.’
