Cox slams UK ‘caste system’

Brian Cox has attacked Britain’s ‘insidious caste system’, which he says is worse now than in his youth.

The Dundee-born actor, 71, pictured, who grew up in a working class household, said English society is all about ‘who you are and where you come from’. ‘it’s a very interesting thing about the feudalism of English society,’ he told radio Times. it’s about who you are and where you come from, how you operate within that world.

‘it’s the caste system, which still exists and is actually even worse now. i mean it really is – it’s more insidious.’

Cox’s latest film Churchill, which sees him play the wartime leader, is to be released on Friday. But it has sparked criticism from historians, with some labelling it a ‘ hatchet job’ filled with ‘specious errors’.
