Chevin go extra mile for victory
CHEVIN’S Paul Tatlow and Gerry Nash held their nerve to win a five-hole sudden-death play-off to beat Chesterfield’s Andy Warwick and Brendan Lovelock and reach the fifth round of the Daily Mail Foursomes. Neither side was ever more than one up in the match and both missed opportunities to settle the marathon decider. Tatlow, who had to hole three eight-foot pressure putts over the closing holes, said: ‘I putted well all day and it was an enjoyable match in a perverse sort of way. It keeps raising the tension the more holes you’re going.’ The victory took Chevin one step closer to the October finals at Marriott St Pierre.
