I’m a 48-year- old bachelor, who had a great social life with the opposite sex in my 30s, but had a reality check when I reached my 40s and became invisible. But far from wallowing in self- pity, I’ve accepted thinning hair, though I keep myself trim and fit.

Both sexes have far too high expectations when dating. Are you really being honest with yourself about the partner you would like to meet? As Ms Walters urges, just make an effort.
