Health boss leaves

THE executive chairman of Spire Healthcare has stepped back from his role due to a medical condition.

In an update yesterday, the independent hospital group said Garry Watts was undergoing treatment and would need ‘some short periods out of the business’ in the coming months. Watts, 60, will revert to his previous role of non- executive chairman, with chief financial officer Simon Gordon taking over on an interim basis.

Meanwhile, also on an interim basis, head of finance Andrew Goldsmith will become the hospital group’s chief financial officer.
