Everton to splash £30m on Pickford

- DOMINIC KING in Kielce, Poland

EVERTON will smash their transfer record to sign Jordan Pickford after they agreed a £ 30million deal with Sunderland.

The england Under 21 international had been everton’s top priority to come in as their new No 1 and they have come to an arrangement with Sunderland that will see them pay £22m up front, with the rest in add-ons.

Pickford did not want speculation hanging over him during euro 2017 and, with that in mind, everton will not send a delegation out to Poland to conduct a medical. That will be taken care of once england’s campaign is over.

Romelu Lukaku and Yannick Bolasie had been everton’s most expensive signings.

everton are also in talks with Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez and Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, who will cost more than £24m. Gylfi Sigurdsson, the Swansea midfielder, is also high on their wanted list.

Michael Keane, the Burnley defender, is another target.

Sunderland are keen on Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone as they look to replace Pickford. United want £5m for the 24-year-old.
