General confusion
HOORAY for our youth, who are ‘making their voices heard’. But I am not as impressed with their level of political knowledge.
I was queuing behind a group of teenagers at my local polling station in Derbyshire. After one girl had collected her ballot paper, she returned to the table to ask: ‘This is the General Election, isn’t it? I wanted to vote for Jeremy Corbyn, but his name is not on this form.’
Perhaps we should raise the voting age to 21, so the young can become politically aware, rather than turning them loose unprepared.
