Cosby ‘sure he could win over sex assault jury’
BILL Cosby was confident he could get a hung jury during his trial for sexual assault, it was reported yesterday.
The case against the US entertainer, right, collapsed on Saturday when the jury said they were ‘hopelessly deadlocked’ after 52 hours of deliberations.
Cosby told his legal team during the 11-day trial ‘all I need is one juror’, according to the New York Post. He apparently said the prosecution needed to convince all 12 jurors of their version of events, but his side just needed to sway one jury member.
He was on trial in Norristown, Pennsylvania, for allegedly drugging and molesting a woman in 2004. Kevin Steele, district attorney for Montgomery County, has vowed to try Mr Cosby again, saying alleged victim Andrea Constand, 44, is entitled to a verdict.
Around 60 women have accused Mr Cosby of sexual assault over the past 40 years but Miss Constand’s case is the only one within the statute of limitations.
