GORDON RAMSAY’S contest returns for a new season, and it’s on less macho and circus-like form than usual. This, along with the addition of guest judges, makes for an agreeable change of tone — the initial whittling of the contenders feels nicer, too, and takes the form of a series of intimate cook-offs.

NEW GENERATION Vlogglebox, 9pm, E4

WE’VE had Gogglebox and Gogglespro­gs and now, this new series (pictured) — made by the same company — aims to show us all the funky things 16- to 24-yearolds watch on their digital devices. TV isn’t great at being ‘down with the kids’, but this is filmed close to transmissi­on and, with that pedigree, could provide an interestin­g window . . .

DOCUMENTAR­Y Nazi Law: Legally Blind, 9pm, PBS America

IT’S chilling how the nature of a country can change in times of terrorism. This all too logical new documentar­y explores how Hitler steadily dismantled Germany’s justice system after labelling the Reichstag fire of 1933 as a Communist plot.

SEASON FINALE American Gods, Episode 8

SHADOW attends a kind of gods’ convention — and his dead wife gets a fresh perspectiv­e — in an immensely stylish season finale that starts out talky, but builds towards a truly eye-popping last ten minutes. That final stretch also sets up the second season quite neatly.

YOUNG ATTENBOROU­GH David Attenborou­gh’s Zoo Quest In Colour, 10.30pm, BBC4

THE great man’s Fifties wildlife series was shown in black and white, but filmed in colour, and the best of that original footage is the meat of this documentar­y. The footage has a lovely, vivid quality, and it’s a delight to watch the young Attenborou­gh on such a grand adventure!
