Bake Off Paul was ‘teased endlessly’

FORMER Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc has told how she mocked Paul Hollywood so much that 99 per cent of their quips had to be cut out.

Miss Giedroyc, 49, and co-host Sue Perkins, 47, were known for gently mocking Hollywood, a judge on the BBC series, which has moved to Channel 4.

Miss Giedroyc said in an interview that she would watch to see whether new hosts Noel Fielding, 44, and Sandi Toksvig, 59, continue the jibes.

‘I’m fascinated to know whether they’re going to give him a bit of gyp,’ he said. ‘I hope so. It’s part of tradition.’

She joked that ‘99 per cent of the footage’ from her seven years on Bake Off was ‘on the cutting room floor’ because it was ‘utter filth’ and ‘endless teasing’.

Miss Giedroyc added: ‘I mean relentless, almost bullying at work of Paul. The guy could not open his mouth without one of us wisecracking.’

But the presenter, who decided not to move to Channel 4 with Bake Off, added: ‘He gave as good as he got, actually.’
