Just popped in to say Hello... Adele thanks Grenfell firemen with cuddle and a cuppa
SINGer Adele showed her support for the firefighters who tackled the Grenfell Tower inferno with a surprise visit offering ‘tea and a cuddle’.
The 29-year-old star, who had comforted survivors at a temporary shelter hours after the tragedy, arrived at Chelsea fire station with cake before joining the crew in a minute’s silence in tribute to the victims.
Station manager Ben King said: ‘She just turned up at the station and knocked on the window and said she had some cakes for us. So we opened the door and then she took her sunglasses off and said, “hi, I’m Adele”. everyone was so shocked.
‘She came in, came up to the mess and had a cup of tea with the watch and then she joined us for the minute’s silence.’
he added: ‘We have had so much support from the local community and we cannot thank everyone enough.’
Fireman rob Petty posted a photo of the singer, whose hits include Someone Like You and hello, on Facebook yesterday, writing: ‘Not every day the wonderfully grounded and caring Adele pops into Chelsea fire station for a cup of tea and a cuddle.’
Other celebrities showing their support include Simon Cowell, who is organising a fundraising single with several music stars.
